Castles and Chateau Svojanov, tel.: 461 744124, an early-Gothic castle of 13th century, a romantic castle, one of the oldest in the Czech territory, is dominated by a watch tower and a well preserved fortification systém; a permanent exhibition of the history of the castle and a permanene exhibition of the ceramic works by Jan Kutálek; a scene of many cultural events; open: V - IX: Tue - Sun 8.30 - 17; IV, X: Sat, Sun 9 - 17
Bystré Chateau Built in 1586 - 90 by Jan Bezdružický of Kolowrat in the Renaissance style; in 1712 sold to J. Hannibal of Hohenembs who brought a Hohenembs collection of 92 paintings here (now exhibited in the Polička Gallery); the chateau presently not accessible as it has become a seat of the Home of Disabled Children.
Litomyšl Chateau Jiráskova Street, tel.: 0464 / 615067 - a unique Renaissance monument, included in the UNESCO list of historical sights since 1999; the chateau was built in 1568 - 1581, front arcades on the first floor; a chateau theatre with original decorations by J. Platzer on the ground floor; outer walls and chimneys covered in so called sgrafitti; a beautiful garden and Baroque farm houses located in the chateau area; a native house of composer Bedřich Smetana in the chateau brewery open: V - IX: Tue - Sun 9 - 12, 13 - 17 (only up to Sept 16); IV, X: Sat, Sun 9 - 12, 13 - 16 and also on request; closed: XI. - III.
Nové Hrady Chateau Nové Hrady, tel.: 0454 / 325353 - one of our prominent Rococo buildings representing a rural feudal residence of its time; built in 1773 - 78 according to the designs by Count J. A. Horbuval de Chamaré; reopen in 2001, in season Tue - Sun: 10 - 17
